Our Dance Instructors
Jessica loves to share her love of dance and watch people learn. You will find her to be a very patient, knowledgable and enthusiastic teacher with over 22 years of experience. She is extensively trained in all the Ballroom, Swing, Salsa and Country Dance styles. Therefore, regardless of what you would like to learn (Waltz, Cha Cha, Swing or Two Step), Jessica can guide from the very beginning all the way through the advanced level.
She is a retired competitor and holds many dance titles in many different styles. If you want to Social Dance, she can make sure that the Lead and Follow both know and understand their part. If you want to competitive dance, Jessica is your girl to get you on the dance floor. She holds several National Titles in American Smooth Ballroom as well as a World Title in Country Dancing.
Jessica has spent 14 years studying Ballroom, Country and Swing dancing. However, she is not a one dimensional dancer. She is extensively trained in many styles of dance. As a child and teenager she spent 10 years studying Tap, Jazz and Ballet. She is the former Coach of the Bellarmine University’s Dance Team, the Holy Cross High School’s Dance Team and a former University of Louisville LadyBird.
David got his start in dance through musical theater which led to dancing Hip Hop. After teaching Hip Hop for a short time he was introdcuted to Salsa, Swing, and Ballroom. He began teaching these partner dances in 2008 and has since traveled throught the midwest and country dancing, teaching, performing, and competing
A few of his awards inlcude being the 2012 Tristate Salsa Champion, the 2012 Tristate Bachata Champion Runner-up, and the 2012 Chicago Dancesport Challenge Open Rhythm Champion.
Dave Denton began taking dance lessons 23 years ago with his introduction to the Two Step, Triple Step and Country Cha Cha as the country style of dancing was sweeping the nation. In the late 90's Dave joined a West Coast Swing Club in Hawaii and began the next chapter of dancing in his life. He followed the dancing style of Ron Montez the former World Champion in Mambo.
Dave truly fell in love with dancing in 1999 when he look his first ballroom lesson at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Kansas City Kansas. He was introduced to Waltz, Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Rumba, Mambo, Bolero, Samba, Quickstep, Tango, East Coast Swing, as well as continuing his study of the Country/Western dances, Salsa, Merengue and Bachata.
Returning to her native home of Louisville in 1998, Michelle studied Ballroom, Latin, and Swing dance privately for 12 years where she fell in love with Hip shaking Rhythm which lead to her teaching career. Michelle is currently part of USA Dance, DCBA, AFAA. Michelle believes in the “golden rule” doing unto others by giving back to the local community. In 2009, Michelle performed a dance exhibition for the Bardstown, KY Crusade for Children to raise proceeds. 2009-2012 Michelle uses her time and abilities instructing dance and fitness for the Derby City Bop Association. Louisville Chapter. In 2010, a short- term mission trip to Poland, Michelle introduced campers to ballroom dance and mind body fitness, while campers taught her Polish.
The sweeping sensations of Michelle’s experience in Poland brought a energizing and focused passion for people, fitness, and dance. The ingenuity behind the driving force of attaining professional instructional certifications in Yoga, Pilates, Barre, PIYO, Zumba, Strength Training, and Aerobics, CPR/AED. Fusing steamy passions and Michelle’s desires provided her niche. Michelle’s goal: Impressing upon students rewarding benefits of a stronger, leaner, flexible body, balancing mental clarity through the art of self-expression; creating a better quality of life.
Melissa has always loved to dance. She started as a child in ballet and then transitioning to jazz. In December 2006, a friend at her church convinced her to take a ballroom class and that was all it took for her to fall in love with ballroom and Latin dances. Melissa has traveled across the United States, competing as an amateur competitor in American Smooth, International Standard, American Rhythm and International Latin styles. Currently she enjoys traveling, social dancing and competing in the Advanced level in the West Coast Swing Circuit. Melissa found dance to be a powerful tool to help people discover and express different parts of themselves. She feels very blessed to be able to share her love for dancing with her students.
Always fascinated by dance, but afraid to try it, Jonah finally experienced partner dancing while involved in a church community group. Expecting it to be a one-time thing, he instead found a passion and affinity for it, and began taking regular lessons and classes to learn and expand his skills. Social dancing ballroom dance styles for many years, he began competition in the American Smooth and International Standard Styles before discovering and falling in love with West Coast Swing. Currently, he travels several weekends per month to compete and social dance on the West Coast Swing circuit.
This dancing firecracker has been in the scene for almost 10 years. Her dancing days began at Arthur Murray in 2005 where she trained to become an instructor. She had the amazing opportunity to train under a World Dance Champion, Anton Sidorov. She continued to work at Arthur Murray for 4 years and participated in many regional Arthur Murray dance competitions with her students. Angel also danced with local anchorman, Stephan Johnson, from Fox 41 News. She choreographed a Waltz for a local Dancing With the Stars charity event where they placed 2nd. Presently, she uses her dance talent and knowledge within the school system and specializes in the Latin Syllabus. She teaches dance to children anywhere between the ages of 4-17. Angel's passion for dance is very broad, she loves working with people of all ages. Dancing has been her way to give back to the community and her passion is not dancing just for herself, but to find the dancing rockstar in you!
